It’s no surprise, then, that choosing the right metrics and KPIs for every account is essential. Ecommerce accounts may optimize for ROAS or ROI, while lead generation accounts might choose to set CPA or lead volume goals based on observed closing rates. In their own way, each of these goals, or KPI strategies, is rooted in profitability and return.
If you’re an ecommerce business, then you need to be running Google Shopping Campaigns. Consumers use Google’s search engine on a daily basis to find all kinds of products that they need (including yours), and running Google Shopping campaigns can help you connect with them. These campaigns pull product information, such as the product image, price, and merchant name, from your company’s Merchant Center data feed and conveniently display them to the viewer. Because it pulls this data each time a user makes a search inquiry, you can be assured that your product ads are always up to date and accurate (so long as you keep your data feed that way), keeping your potential customer from feeling confused or frustrated.

If you want to see what people are talking about at any given moment, there's no better way than to check in with your social media channels. Most of us already do this throughout the day, but if you haven't tapped into your channels for keyword research, you're missing out on valuable insights. Here are just a few things you can uncover by typing a word or phrase into the Facebook search bar:

Informational: These keywords represent the very beginning of the conversion process, and are not very likely to convert on the first visit. If you’re running a branding campaign you’ll want to be sure to include informational keywords on your list. If you’ve got a conversion goal, you still can’t afford to ignore these keywords as they make up the majority of searches. Informational keywords often use words/phrases like "how to", “do I need” and “where to find”. Consider these leads to be converted later via your website or a retargeting campaign.
Competitive analysis. Sometimes, a stakeholder identifies the competition in the PPC space incorrectly. Competitive analysis helps me learn who the competition actually is and what they are doing to be successful in terms of bidding, keyword targeting and creative messaging. The competitive analysis helps me determine how aggressive I need to be in my account management policies in order to successfully compete in the marketplace.
Understanding which websites already rank for your keyword gives you valuable insight into the competition, and also how hard it will be to rank for the given term. Are there search advertisements running along the top and right-hand side of the organic results? Typically, many search ads means a high-value keyword, and multiple search ads above the organic results often means a highly lucrative and directly conversion-prone keyword.
In 2016, we used ROAS to reduce non-converting spend and improve overall profitability. At the end of the second quarter, CPA was nearly 18% over our $20 goal. To address this, we examined our highest CPA campaigns and noted that one campaign (“Campaign 1”) was at nearly twice our CPA goal for the past year, but had also generated the most revenue relative to its spend. On the other hand, we could see that our poorest converting campaign (“Campaign 6”) had not closed any leads in the past 12 months.

Keyword Competition tools can make things much easier on your keyword strategy. Some tools include the Adwords Keyword Planner  (you can tailor this for B2B) and MozBar. Google Adwords help you discover and compare new keywords. MozBar helps you check keyword competition against other B2B business sites. Some tools must be purchased, such as Long Tail Pro. This tool identifies profitable long tail keywords focused on your content.

But consider this: only a lead who is in the early stages of researching a product or solution (aka not ready to convert) uses such general keywords in their search engine research, simply because they aren’t yet educated enough about what they’re looking for. Similar to a negative keyword strategy, bottom-of-the-funnel (BOFU) keywords can help you reach avoid the wrong leads. These keywords are ones that are more pricing and service-oriented, which will bring in consumers who have a higher potential of converting as a result of your PPC ads.
This is the only match type that will trigger your ad for any search query that is remotely relevant. Broad match casts the widest net of searches, so your bid on “shoes” can also show your ad for search queries like “sneakers”, “red shoes”, “coolest summer shoes”, etc. At the moment this is the only match type that Amazon offers, so if you want to control your searches more accurately, you will have to employ the Negative keywords.

Twitter is also a great place to get guidance about what's popular as it relates to your search terms. Just type a word or phrase into the search bar and see what trending topics come up. You can also use social media monitoring tools like Hootsuite, which allows you to create a stream based on a particular phrase and monitor mentions of it, or TweetReach, which gives you a similar quick analysis.

On the other hand, version B not only communicates the valueof the cyber security business (protecting other business’s data from hackers and cyber attacks), but also acknowledges the potential customer. The copy in version B also addresses the fact that what the viewer is likely looking for in such a company is a sense of security, and caters to that with the words “protect” and “safe”.
Once your ad is displayed, it’s likely to be clicked by only a tiny percentage of people who search for such a broad term, making it less likely to be displayed in the future. And even if you create an ad that’s broad enough for those searchers to reliably click, they’re unlikely to find exactly what they’re looking for on your landing page. You’re paying a lot for poor-quality traffic.

Research: These searchers are further down the funnel than informational searchers. They’ve already decided that they want to buy a product, but they haven’t quite decided which one is best. They’re looking for more information, so product keywords usually include words such as "review", “top 10”, “comparison”. And while it may look like spam to you, a word like “cheap” can actually help turn researchers into conversions.
Automatic campaigns are very easy to create, all you need to do is enter your campaign name, budget and start date. The way this works is that Amazon will crawl your listing and run a campaign on your behalf within your budget limits. Amazon effectively decide what keywords and match types are bid on and at what bid, based on the information it has about your listing.
If a keyword is converting but at an ACoS that is above your targeted threshold, you don’t necessarily need to pause the keyword. Instead, you can just adjust your bid accordingly. So if your ACoS is 75% with $1.50 bids and you want it to be closer to 50%, try reducing your bid to $1.25. Keep making small adjustments (usually a $0.25 per week) until it gets to where you want it.
Um herauszufinden, was Verbraucher wollen und was sie dazu bewegt, in einen bestimmten Laden zu gehen, muss ein Markt seine Kunden befragen. Was muss ich liefern, damit meine Kunden mir treu bleiben?
Finally, we ensure your site conforms to the search engines' guidelines and recommended optimization techniques, while thoroughly researching the competitiveness of your industry.
