Google's AdWords Keyword Planner tool is another common starting point for SEO keyword research. It not only suggests keywords and provides estimated search volume, but also predicts the cost of running paid campaigns for these terms. To determine volume for a particular keyword, be sure to set the Match Type to [Exact] and look under Local Monthly Searches. Remember that these represent total searches. Depending on your ranking and click-through rate, the actual number of visitors you achieve for these keywords will usually be much lower.
For example, assume your search ad generated 5,000 impressions in one day, of which 100 visitors have come to your site, and three have converted for a total profit (not revenue!) of $300. In this case, a single visitor for that keyword is worth $3 to your business. Those 5,000 impressions in 24 hours could generate a click-through rate of between 18-36% with a #1 ranking (see the Slingshot SEO study for more on potential click-through rates), which would mean 900-1800 visits per day, at $3 each, or between 1 and 2 million dollars per year. No wonder businesses love search marketing!
You can set a bid adjustment based on a user’s previous behavior on your site, so if they’ve bought one item, you could increase your bids in your other campaign to promote related accessories or products that they are most likely to be interested when they search on Google. This can also work even if they haven’t made a purchase, but simply browsed for your products.
It’s important to keep in mind that each video’s watch time contributes to only that video’s placement in search rankings, so optimizing your content to keep people engaged and watching is by far your biggest priority. That said, if you can keep viewers sticking around to watch more of your content, you’re one step closer to converting them to a YouTube subscriber and eventually, a buyer.

In order to develop the best recommendations for actions regarding your internet strategy, specialists from the specific fields business economics (strategy, marketing), communications, design, web programming and search engine optimization work together and use applied analysis methods from the corporate analysis, market and competitive analysis (selected competitors), marketing research, market observation and competitive intelligence, media analysis and internet marketing analysis (incl. keyword analyses, internet market competition analyses).
In reality, even profitability focused campaigns will have limits when it comes to budget, so our focus is often maximizing profitability within the budget we have allotted. This can mean bringing in fewer conversions at a lower cost per acquisition (CPA) and eliminating elements of campaigns that are under performing compared to your acceptable conversion goal. Mining search query reports, establishing negative keywords, bidding down on keywords with high CPA’s or no conversions are all techniques we employ in order to maximize our profitability within the parameters given.
We are only going to focus on sending traffic to your product page on Amazon, ie Amazon Sponsored Products. We will not focus on Amazon Product Ads, which drives traffic to your own website off of Amazon. You really don’t need a unique website outside of Amazon to start being successful selling FBA, so let’s assume that you don’t have a site to drive traffic to.
YouTube’s search results give you even more control over what a potential viewer sees because you have a thumbnail displayed next to your search result. It’s a great opportunity to provide extra information about the video and what viewers can expect, so optimizing your thumbnails can help you increase both your click-through rate and your watch time.
With a clear understanding of our objectives and audience, we can now determine how we want to target our prospects across the AdWords network. There are multiple targeting options available, from location to demographics and display ads to video ads. The trick is to tailor your adverts to deliver the best results based on how your users browse the web. This chapter provides you with the primary elements required to accurately target your campaign.
"Modern SEO focuses on using the variations of the word or phrase that work naturally within the content because users will have a better experience, and search engines are capable of rewarding rankings to sites regardless of the variation of that keyword used. In other words, when a shopper searches for 'books,' the pages that best serve that user’s search query will, in theory, be ranked highest regardless of whether the content reflects the word 'book' or 'books.'"
The second is mobile couponing, which is being driven forward by players like Groupon, LivingSocial and Amazon. By clicking on a mobile banner, consumers can redeem coupons in-store at point of sale. Advertisers can target their campaigns to appear on the devices of any consumer browsing a mobile site or app within a given distance of one of their outlets.
PPC develops over time, because historical data feeds all future PPC marketing strategy decisions. On a going-forward basis, you must review campaign performance to know which campaigns, ad groups, ads, and keywords to pause; which keywords should be grouped into more tightly defined ad groups; and which existing campaigns, ad groups, ads, and keywords need to be tested and/or modified for improvement.

Location history of a consumer provides a lot of information specific to that person: where they like to shop, what they like to buy, how often they make the trip, and even how they get there. Obtaining this information gives great insight to marketers that enhances the ability to target consumers and deliver relevant, responsive location specific ads and information, even if the consumer is not currently in that area.

PPC thrives when decisions are based on the most complete and accurate view available. For lead gen, as well as ecommerce accounts, this may require additional effort and data not always readily available. But if you have access to revenue data, I hope that this post has given you some ideas about how it can be used to strengthen your PPC strategy and tactics. And if you don’t have direct access to revenue data, that is a conversation you may want to get started. Having concrete examples (like those above) of the potential value of that information is a good place to start.

Because of our idea that you should have one brand and several (hundreds) keywords, we’re not big fans of keyword domains at Yoast either. By using a keyword domain you bind your companies past, present and future to a single keyword. And with the abundance of new top level domains (TLDs) now available, you’ll have a very hard time buying all of the TLDs with the same keyword to keep out the competition.

7. Use a keyword research brief to share for unified messaging. The final tip is to attempt to break down the silos that are typical in medium to large organizations and share with them enough keyword data so they can be encouraged to use your targeted keywords in their respective messaging. One way to do this is to develop what I call a keyword research brief. This is simply a document that is like an executive summary of keyword research for your top keywords. This document should be no more than one to two pages. It should be a quick read. See an example of this below.
The basic content strategy you’ve put together—what you want to create, and how—should give you a good place to start. Now it’s time to break that strategy into potential topics and keywords to cover on your channel. Once you have a topic, like “dog training” or “styling a scarf” you can start to test the relevant words and phrases you think customers will search to find answers.

Amazon will decide which one to select based on bids and relevance. Even with ads, if A9 deems one product “less worthy” than the other and they both have the same ad spend, the “more worthy” product will appear. And yes, you would end up competing with yourself on some ad words. Fortunately, Amazon’s back end remarketing tools (such as “other similar tools”) will help give similar products synergy.

Keyword research for PPC can be incredibly time-consuming, but it is also incredibly important. Your entire PPC campaign is built around keywords, and the most successful Google Ads advertisers continuously grow and refine their PPC keyword list. If you only do keyword research once, when you create your first campaign, you are probably missing out on hundreds of thousands of valuable, long-tail, low-cost and highly relevant keywords that could be driving traffic to your site.
xAd’s first step was to expand its use of location data. “We wanted to move beyond just the where, and use location data to define the who and the what of audience targeting,” Monica Ho, xAd’s CMO, told GeoMarketing in 2015. After all, while a consumer’s proximity to a Denny’s can be significant, targeting someone who has been to and enjoys their local Denny’s will often prove more successful — whether or not they happen to be near the restaurant at the time they see the ad.
Test putting the location in the ad copy. If you’re a local business, there’s a chance that people want to find you locally. Who cares about a tire repair shop in Massachusetts if you’re in Denver? Because of this, putting the location in your ad copy can give you an edge. If necessary, run multiple campaigns with each specifying the individual location.<
After setting your campaign goal and choosing the right platform for your ad, the next step is to plan your ad targeting for your most relevant audience. There are two types of targeting. You can target audience for a specific geographic location and you can also optimize your campaign for a specific device type, operating systems and wireless networks.

1. Branding or converting strategy. One of the first things to consider in developing a keyword strategy is what you want to accomplish when you reach your target audience. Do you just want to generate an impression for branding purposes or do you want to invite them to your place where you get them to make a purchase? Here are three types of strategies to consider:
"My favorite part about voice search is just how clear the intent is in the query. For example, if I typed in 'hotels in the Bahamas', you’d have no idea whether I was looking for a romantic getaway, a singles trip or a family vacation. Chances are the results would be different for each. But if I asked Cortana, 'which are the best family-friendly hotels in the Bahamas,' then a far more targeted result could be served.

For example, it’s important to look at the response based on urban, suburban or rural locations. Someone living in northern Indiana may consider driving 25 miles to your store to be no big deal. Most customers or prospects could make the drive in less than half an hour and, therefore, they will visit your store. However, if the prospects live in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, they aren’t going to want to go to your store in Wrigleyville because that’s going to take 50 minutes.

Add in geolocation, and you get geotargeting, a technique that has proved highly beneficial to local small businesses, especially restaurants, retail shops, and service providers. While that’s great, what happens if you’re a large corporation running national campaigns? As a CMO, you can still use geotargeting to increase the return on your marketing investments.

IP delivery for search engine optimization (SEO) is the method of delivering different content to search engine spiders (also known as robots and crawlers) than to human visitors. The determination if the visitor is a known search engine spider is done based on the IP address. SEOs compare the visitor's IP address with their list of IP addresses, which are known to be servers that are owned by a search engine and used to run their crawler applications (spiders). The delivery of different content to search engine spiders than to human visitors is called cloaking and is against most search engines' webmaster guidelines.[8][9][10]
Export the weighted list back to your spreadsheet and combine it with the others in Excel. Then use the data tools to sort the list by ‘Priority’ – this is a score based on the difficulty, traffic, opportunity and your score. This tells you which keywords you should be targeting in descending order of attractiveness. Suddenly, you’ve turned more than 1,000 keywords into a usable list of a few dozen. Using the same example for wines:

From there, you can bid on all of the important keywords using Amazon PPC. Don’t forget to go for long tail, too, which Keyword Scout can help you with. So instead of spending a bunch of money on just “garlic press” you’d spend less money on terms like “long handle garlic press” and “stainless steel garlic press” or “kitchen gadget for garlic” etc.
People don’t go to Amazon to window shop and discover ideas. They know what they want, go to Amazon , and type in their desired product. Amazon will return the products that it deems most likely to satisfy the user’s desire. These are the “organic” results. Then there are the “paid” search results, which you will see mixed in with the organic results, and sometimes in the right column and below the organic results:
Paid search strategy involves up-front and ongoing attention. Many PPC campaigns never realize their potential because companies fail to complete the last step in this six-step strategic process. Testing is all-important to every AdWords strategy, because no matter how carefully the first five steps are completed, user behavior is never 100% predictable. A campaign that appears to everyone as rock solid in theory can still fall short, and sometimes, campaigns scribbled out on a cocktail napkin generate terrific sales leads. But testing always leads to continuous campaign improvement — provided testing adheres to best practices and meaningful results can be collected. Make sure you budget accordingly and hire a PPC firm with documented testing expertise.
Attributed Sales – The total product sales generated within one week of clicks on your ads. Your sales data can take up to 48 hours to populate. As a result, sales data is not available in the “Today” date range and may be delayed in the “Yesterday” date range. You can view the individual sales totals for advertised products and other products in the Campaign Performance report
Together, Google and the marketing world are pursuing the next stage in the evolution of PPC advertising. The main points they share? Details and demographics. Marketers who understand the importance of geotargeting advertising will be ready to seize a golden opportunity to connect with consumers. Here are five ways to become a geotargeting master and get a head start on one of the best paid advertising methods.
Using the same keyword phrase over and over within a web page or blog post can actually hurt your ranking score in Google, which can perceive it as spammy. That wasn't your intention, but maybe you just couldn't think of a better word to use in its place. The Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) Keyword Generator is like a thesaurus for SEO-minded content marketers. It offers keyword suggestions that are semantically linked to your main keyword, meaning they would naturally come up in conversation. Incorporating these keywords into your post allows you to add variety while still retaining SEO power.

Below, you can find our suggested stages for implementing your keyword strategy, specifically if you are trying to get a newer business with a branded service / product to rank higher in an industry with competitors who have already established a presence in the main search engines. We leave it up to you to decide when it is best to move to each stage. In our opinion, what works for SMEs that need to boost their presence on the web is to develop a keyword strategy that starts out general, without worrying too much about competitors. This strategy can then evolve over time to include more and more branded keywords as well as aiming for some SERPs of better-known competitors.

Beyond the city level, your geotargeting on Facebook can further narrow your targeted customers to within miles. For example, a fairly standard radius is 10 miles and closer when you’re targeting a specific product or service in a particular vicinity. If you’re in a more rural setting, you can expand that radius to 20 or 25 miles. Urban areas like Chicago, Los Angeles and New York are targeted within one mile.

You have now reached the final step of creating a keyword strategy: keyword research. Quality keyword research is as essential as doing market research for marketing strategy. By the same token, forming a keyword strategy for B2B marketing and SEO needs heavy research as well. When doing keyword research, there are three important factors to remember:

It is dependent on the pre-analysis of the entire IP address space. There are more than 4 billion possible IP addresses, and detailed analysis of each of them is a Herculean task, especially in light of the fact that IP addresses are constantly being assigned, allocated, reallocated, moved and changed due to routers being moved,[6] enterprises being assigned IP addresses or moving, and networks being built or changed. In order to keep up with these changes, complex algorithms, bandwidth measurement and mapping technology, and finely tuned delivery mechanisms are necessary.[7] Once all of the IP space is analyzed, each address must be periodically updated to reflect changes in the IP address information, without invading a user's privacy. This process is similar in scale to the task of Web spidering.

If I have quite a lot solid keywords which convert well in my manual campaign, may I set auto campaign and put all of these keywords from manual campaign as negative? The purpose of this action is to avoid pay for them twice (on auto and manual campaign) and just use auto campaign for search maybe some new cheap keywords which also can convert quite good…
Sometimes even the most savvy among us can feel like a confused great-granny on a MacBook Pro running Linux when it comes to the newest, latest tech, and how it actually works. Location-based marketing is already happening. All of the available tools provide opportunities to serve highly localized, highly relevant communications to your customers, based on where they are right now. But what exactly are those options, and how do they work?
To make the most of that investment, it’s important to plan for keywords that you know are a good fit for your brand, and that people are already searching for. Afterwards, optimizing your videos to help YouTube make the match for those keywords is critical. It’s one of the best ways to ensure your videos will work hard for your business long after you’ve published them.

SEO is a continuous process; you can’t stop SEO works after reaching your goals which can first page in a keyword. Because you can’t sustain your position for a long time. There are three important factors of a SEO implementation which are knowledge, experience and time. Hence, SEO can be implemented by all of your rivals without any extra cost. If you stop working on SEO, your rivals can easily take your place. Furthermore, Google changes its algorithm periodically, so you have to be well prepared to those changes to be able to show your website to the search engine. In summary, you can think SEO as a continuous competition; you should be always well prepared to use these free marketing tools.
