Unfortunately, you've got the most updated driver. i had an Asus P8P67 motherboard last year that had 4 buggy SATA ports which made my hard drives act crazy and cause freezes also in windows. Even when idle (I left the computer on and went to sleep to several hours), it did not freeze.
