Lenovo also ran the machine for 48 hours straight (booted into Arch) without reproducing the issue. I sometimes use USB keys and a USB hdd but there is no correlation between my use of these and the shutdowns. My usb mouse and usb memory stick were working fine. My hardware setting is pretty much the same as yours(Boeing82) except for that I have a intel i7-2720QM 2,2GHz processor.

I'm assuming it is a driver. KeithFormerly 600E 2645, T30 2366, X31 2673, T40 2373, T41 2379, T42 2373, T42 2379, T60 1952, T61p 8889, T61p 8891Currently T420 4177-CTO, T430 2347-A54, T430 2349-L64, T430 2347-UN9, T430 2342-CTR, Perhaps the tech's can get a clue about what isactually going on.

A UPS solved that issue. For example, the issue hasn't occurred since I started this thread even though I've had the computer on continuously since then. (It will have been sleeping for a bit but it I did attached minidump file to this thread. Moreover, although I have paid to extend the warranty and although they've taken my money, I've so far been entirely unsuccessful in getting Lenovo's system to recognise the extension.

Your cache administrator is webmaster. I cannot reliably reproduce the issue so it is hard to troubleshoot. So I would like to know what possible software issues might trigger apparently random shutdowns. The shutdowns are immediate. I might try the BIOS upgrade but I'm not optimistic it will cure the problem. The machine does not loose AC power except when that is expected (I unplug it or there is a power cut though the latter is rare).

I also did some heavy gaming on my thinkpad, several night in a row, and I did not experience anything unusual of cashes. have a peek at these guys At home, it is usually charging on my desk (near the computer). I had this problem with a hp and it cured it, laptops can overheat in seconds causing them to shutdown due to lack of space underneath for air to flow. If you are really interested, I can get a graphic image of things it picked and send it to you. 0 Kudos sktn77a 802.11n Posts: 405 Registered: ‎04-04-2008 Location: NC, USA
